Wendy: (?????) I took the picture

vomdb:   yes, but are they yours?

Wendy:   I don’t own the flats,   but they looked pretty in the sunset so I took a photograph of them

womdb:   are they your children playing football?

Wendy:   no,   but that’s my shadow behind the shadow of that tree

3 bits of lovely banter on “owning children”

Taking pictures of children? You could’ve been a paedophile! http://www.boingboing.net/2008/04/26/uk-photographer-chas.html

This appears to be a particular source of alarm in the UK. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=526710

There are moves afoot in the US to make photographing children in public illegal. It seems my state senator is quite proud of his involvement in this, as well as a couple of other things. Fortunately, he sent me a “post-legislative session” round-up of what he accomplished and tried to accomplish, so I know not to vote for him this fall. Not to mention that it seemed like it was written by a third-grader.

Apparently, if you have a license to photograph the child you can ’employ’ them to ‘perform’
