Don’t let someone else tell you what you want. You are quite capable of deciding what you want.
Are you sure this was expressed as a statement and not a question?
Also, be sure he didn’t say “You want a symmetrical” before following up.
gosh it’s a bit more complicated than I first imagined, I may already have commited to asymmetrical without having either realised independently it was hat I wanted or ever have been advised to take it.
