Hence they avoid the zoo act requirements. Wonder why the Rochdale sanctury decided not to either upgrade to conform with being a zoo or remove the visiting day to cease being classified as a zoo. Unfortunately, our <a href="http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/s/1191944_council_forces_bird_sanctuary_to_close">local injured bird sanctuary has been shut down by the council </a>because it decided it needed a zoo licence. The fact the sanctuary's been going since before the Zoo Act came into force thirty years ago is neither here nor there, suddenly it's a requirement. Sigh... Excellent.
