Reading library open to suggestions
I discovered a fabulous events list while I was exploring Reading Borough Library service’s website. But it was a non-interactive web page, I’d have to keep coming back to the web page to look for new events and changes in events. Being unable to resist the opportunity to share the wisdom of my knowledge about blogging and RSS I wrote to them suggesting that they consider changing the format of their events calendar to a blog so that people could subscribe.
The response was quick, personal and positive, very impressive.
Now I just have to resist making lots of suggestions that range from the simple, plausible and valuable to pure science fantasy and fun

Don’t hold your breath: having taken it to their management team they’ll then have to negotiate their way past – gasp!!! – the combined might of the corporate IT department and the corporate communications/branding team…

whatever they eventually do, or don’t do, this email was an excellent reply – honest, prompt, showing willing, demonstrating some groundwork. It really encourages me to take more steps to be supportive in whatever way I can.

There are some good people there who, given half a chance, would pick up and run with this idea (I know at least one has wanted to do this in the past). Fingers crossed.

A calendar of events as an RSS-feed? Now why didn’t I think of that? That is brilliant!
Now I only need to figure out how I’m going to do that, but that is just a matter of some (deep) thought.
Thanks Wendy, for a brilliant idea! Would you mind if I used it too on the website I maintain?
