take time to smell the flowers
Once upon a time, during an annual job performance review my manager suggested that I should be a little less efficient because it was making other staff feel bad.
I wasn’t living in the USA at the time. Quaint British ways.
I am now more adept at ensuring that I have work time allocated to allow me to be seen to be inefficient.
Lets think of it as my
- ‘unfit for purpose’ time
- extra tea-time breaks
- fermenting good ideas while going completely off-topic time
- employer funded socialisation time
- creative teamworking

I used to appreciate the employer funded sick days as well.

Hi Wendy, does this mean you’ve started gossiping during work hours? There’s so much I want to hear – call me! N x

Scarls, I’ve been trying out the sick days, they are working well for me. Nicky, we can shoot the breeze with my new phone….

Instead of complaining about your efficiency, why didn’t the company concentrate on making the others as efficient as you? No wonder so many companies are struggling to survive.
