It's been a while since I looked that closely, but I recall noticing at one point a new trend for spamming my "referer" (sic - the typo in the original design stuck until it was too late to fix!) logs. I would see the usual visits from search engines, forums I'd posted on - and random dodgy sites peddling pills, porn and whatever else spammers push. The logic, apparently, was that a lot of sites actually display that information publicly: by putting their URL into my logfiles, they hoped it would eventually reach the public web content.

Presumably the brief /passport/ visits are people looking for information or help having lost their passports, which would explain their quick departures. I recall helping run a University programme to encourage entrepreneurship in students called the 'Enterprise Gym'; needless to say, most of the people who found the website were searching for actual gym facilities, and departed post haste. Sad, the guy in charge had been getting so excited to see the visitor count climbing until I pointed that out to him...

Hey,
If you ever type in "bird with orange beak" into a search engine, you might get my blog!
What does that tell you about me?

Oh, and I am most impressed about the stamps being out the very next day after the gold medal victories. In the USA, you have to be DEAD to be on a stamp. Seriously, for at least five years.

Welcome Indigo, thanks for popping some interesting words in the box.

I've not visited the olympics yet, but will be visiting the royal mail post box that Reading town will be painting gold to celebrate Helen Glover, as a local girl, winning a Gold medal in the rowing.

Hey Wendy! This is why I don't dip into analytics! I tried it, but learned nothing from it other than "people are strange an unpredictable creatures". Still, a passport for the toilet. Hey, you didn't visit the Olympics, did you?! ;> Indigo
