    A couple bits of info from a recent UK-US mover:
    – Gently-used cars cost more in the US than a comparable in the UK. (I think this has to do with the 3 yr MOT cliff.) It cost much more to replace our car with a similar used model so we ended up buying new in the US.
    – We purchased an electrical inverter so that some of our infrequently used appliances would not have to be replaced. This may or may not make sense for you depending on how many appliances fall in this category and how expensive they are to replace.
