I only have two proper clocks: an eight day bracket clock which strikes the hour, and a wheezy old Black Forest wall clock, which must be wound every day. Both have cost me a fortune in repair bills - the temporal equivalent of vet's bills. But they are my Boys, and I love them, and they call to me when I get home. The object of the game is to get and keep them striking in unison and with the Radio 4 pips, which involves much fiddling with their pendula (sounds rude) - especially when the temperature is fluctuating a lot, as in recent weeks. A foolish pastime, from which I derive an absurd amount of pleasure. Ah – a fellow horological fan.
